The sixth Steering Committee meeting of the Twinning project in Moldova was held

On 20 October, the State Chancellery in Republic of Moldova hosted the sixth quarterly meeting of the Steering Committee members of the EU-funded Twinning project “Support to the Civil Service Modernization in the Republic of Moldova in line with EU best practices”.
The partners - State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova, Office of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, European Social Fund Agency and the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, have discussed about the most important project achievements in the sixth quarter of its implementation (July-October 2016) being also discussed the planned activities for the next quarter.
The meeting was opened by Mr. Roman Cazan, Deputy Secretary General of the Government, who is also the Project Leader from behalf of the beneficiary state – the Republic of Moldova, who highlighted the importance of these meetings as the partners have the possibility to analyse and evaluate together the impact of the conducted activities, discuss future plans and identify new common solutions to overcome challenges in case they occur during project implementation. Therefore, Mr. Alminas Mačiulis, Chancellor of the Government of Lithuania and Project Leader from behalf of the EU member-state which is the project partner – Republic of Lithuania, appreciated the efforts made by the Government of the Republic of Moldova in launching Component 4 of the project, aimed at capacity development of State Secretaries.
The activities held under the other three components of the project were also discussed in details, such as: professional development activities dedicated to human resources specialists from central and local public authorities, continuous strengthening of the human resources experts’ network, etc. The representative of the European Social Fund Agency, Mrs. Jurgita Bulvičienė, presented the execution of the project budget, the level of funds absorption and possibilities for organizing additional activities within those four components. In this regard, Mrs. Tamara Gheorghita, Head of Central Public Administration Reform Division of the State Chancellery and RTA Counterpart in the Twinning project, highlighted the necessity for conducting activities as for the improvement of the legal and normative framework on public office and as for the professional development of top civil servants.
All the activities planned for the next quarter of project implementation will be assessed and discussed during the next Steering Committee meeting that was jointly agreed to take place in January 2017.
