The Macedonian delegation acquainted with the system for training and examination of Lithuanian school directors

In the frame of the EU Twinning Light Project “Strengthening the quality assurance and control of the educational system”, a study visit for the representatives from the National Examination Centre of Macedonia was organised in Vilnius, Lithuania, where they were acquainted with the system for training and examination of Lithuanian school heads. The study visit took place from 10 to 14 October 2016.
The participants of the study visit were received by the Project partners represented by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania, National Agency for School Evaluation, Education Supply Centre, and Education Development Centre, who presented in detail the Lithuanian education system, the dialog and cooperation maintained with schools, the procedure of evaluation, selection and certification of school head competencies, supervision and quality assurance of the education system, training programs for trainers, mentors and school consultants, the procedure of national assessment for candidates to the position of school heads and upgrading of school heads, internal and external evaluation of schools based on school leadership indicators, e-tools for school self-evaluation and the significant results achieved due to the implemented project “Time for Leaders" funded by the European Social Fund.
The representatives of the National Examination Centre had the opportunity to visit Vilnius Vytautas Magnus Gymnasium and Genys Progymnasium, where they met the school management team and discussed the principles of successful school leadership. Also, the guests were warmly welcomed to the University of Management and Economics where the Master degree programs in educational leadership developed by different providers were presented.
The study visit ended with visiting the European Social Fund Agency, which is in charge of financial and administrative management of the Project. During the meeting, the delegation from the Beneficiary Country was acquainted with the successfully implemented projects in the field of education which were also funded by the European Social Fund. The guests were pleasantly surprised at the attractiveness, innovation of the projects and the value generated for the education system.
Having learned the best Lithuanian practice, the delegation from Macedonia hopes to adopt it successfully through strengthening the quality assurance and control of the educational system.
Initiated on the basis of the partnership between the Central Financing and Contracting Department of the Ministry of Finance, National Examination Centre of the Beneficiary Country and Education Supply Centre affiliated with Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania with the partners, the Twinning Light Project “Strengthening the quality assurance and control of the educational system” supports the modernization of the primary and secondary education and ensures simultaneously the on-going cooperation between the EU and the Beneficiary Country.
